Margaret graduated from Pepperdine University with a B.A. in Public Relations and Marketing. She got a job in Advertising in Los Angeles, and loved eating at fancy restaurants for lunch. But after a while, she decided to go back to school to become a teacher. So she went back to Pepperdine and got a M.A. in Education.
Now she spends her time during the day teaching kids. In addition, she presents Workshops and inservices to teachers on teaching writing to students, poetry, and Writers Workshop. She has sold curriculum to Scholastic, and written books for international publishers to be used in the teaching of English. Her articles and essays have appeared in magazines as well as online. She’s given workshops for children’s writers at SCBWI conferences.
Mark is her best friend. They fell in love at first sight, and got married so they could kiss each other whenever they want, just like in Sweet Home Alabama. They have two children and three dogs. Sailor and Surfer are Portuguese Water Dogs. Tucker is a black Labrador Retriever.
One of Margaret’s favorite places in the world is the beach. She goes back to Malibu, where she went to college, whenever she can.
She loves thunderstorms, music, making playlists for things she’s working on, staying up late writing, and Pinterest. Two of her favorite places to go are Disneyland and Starbucks. She doesn’t like saying goodbye to her friends or waking up early. Books bring her joy. She wants people who pick up her books to find the same.
